AlertOps Intellifields – Configuration & Usage Guide

Overview

Intellifields in AlertOps are AI-powered custom fields designed to extract key insights from incoming alert data. These fields use prompt-driven instructions to generate relevant, actionable content — such as summaries, resolution suggestions, or classifications — directly within the alert record.

They streamline response workflows by pre-filling fields based on alert context, helping teams move faster without needing to manually interpret or document every alert.

How Intellifields Work

Intellifields are built on top of standard custom fields (either Short Text or Long Text) and use natural language prompts to guide the AI on what to extract or generate from the alert.

Unlike traditional custom fields that rely on static mappings or manual entry, Intellifields are filled by AI instructions defined during field creation.

You can use Intellifields in two ways:

Manual Trigger: From within an open alert, click Generate next to the field.

Workflow Automation: Add a workflow step to auto-generate the field on alert creation, update, or another condition.

Field Types Supported

Only the following field types currently support Intellifield AI generation:

Short Text

Long Text

Built-in vs. Custom Intellifields

Built-in (Predefined)    5    ✅ Instructions can be customized

Custom    5 (additional)    ✅ Fully configurable

You can edit the prompt instructions for the built-in fields to suit your org’s terminology, tooling, or incident patterns.

✍️ How to Create a Custom Intellifield

To create a new AI-powered field:

Navigate to Configuration > Administration > Custom Fields

Click + Add Field

Choose Short Text or Long Text

Name your field and define where it appears (e.g., on alerts, tickets)

Enable the AI Generation Prompt

Enter the prompt instructions (e.g., “Summarize what this alert is about and why it matters.”)

Click Submit

💡 Example Use Cases

Summary: “Write a one-sentence summary of the alert’s impact and source.”

Next Steps: “List 2–3 resolution steps likely to fix this based on past alerts.”

Urgency Tagging: “Rate this alert as High, Medium, or Low urgency.”

False Positive Check: “Is this likely to be a false positive? Yes/No and why.”

Root Cause Draft: “What is the most likely cause of this alert?”

🛑 Limitations

Only Short Text and Long Text fields are supported.

You can create up to 5 custom Intellifields in addition to the 5 built-in ones.

AI results depend on the quality and completeness of alert data.
